Bavarian Holidays welcomes you to Gästehaus Am Berg

British Owned Gästehaus am Berg is on the edge of the the German border village of Bayerisch Eisenstein, with all village amenities, including unique railway station, the Bavarian Forest National Park and the Czech border.
.

The Bavarian Forest, is part of the largest wooded area in central Europe, often referredto as “the Green Roof of Europe”. An area of outstanding natural beauty, situated in the South East of Germany, on the border with the Czech Republic, close to Austria and the River Danube. The Guesthouse is located halfway between Munich and Prague, which along with Salzburg, Regensburg, Nuremberg and Passau, are less the 3 hours drive away. Enjoy the wonderful scenery of the Bayerischer Wald National Park and the Grosser Arber mountain area. The area is criss-crossed with numerous walking, mountain-biking and cycling trails, and in winter is an excellent place to ski, with both downhill and cross-country skiing well catered for.

The area is re-knowned for its glassmaking, natural beauty, many festivals and schnapps. (A potent brew. - the local version, “Bärwürz” is made from a root that grows only on Grosser Arber).
Our bed & breakfast guest house is located in a relaxed and quiet area above the village of Bayerisch Eisenstein (724m), on the lower slopes of Grosser Arber (1456m). The village of Bayerisch Eisenstein has restaurants, basic shops, local railway museum, the only railway station in Europe shared by 2 countries, (the border runs through the centre of the station building), glassworks, tennis courts, mini golf, and park complete with pond and children’s play ground

Gästehaus am Berg has 13 spacious and comfortable en-suite bedrooms, most with balconies with views of the village and beyond. It is within easy walking distance of the village centre, with all its amenities, the German/Czech border and only 5 minutes drive to the ski lifts & ski schools. Walking, cycling and cross-country ski trails start within 100 metres of the guesthouse. The Bavarian National Park is a few minutes walk from the guesthouse and the Arber mountain ski area and cable car is a few minutes drive away. The cable car operates for most of the year.

Bayerisch Eisenstein is easy to reach from the UK. It takes about 10 hours to drive here from Calais and 2 hours by car from Munich, Prague or Linz airports and 3 hours from Salzburg airport.
A car is not essential. There are good local bus and train services and some great deals on fares.
We are happy to collect guests from and return them to the village station, if required.

The English owners are always happy to advise visitors of the wide range of things to do and see.
