The Arber is a great area for skiiers, for experienced skiiers, learners or those that just want to have fun in the snow. It has some of the most reliable snow conditions in Germany. Its equipment is very up to date, and includes snow cannons and a range of lifts, including a 6 seater gondola, and 2, six seater chairs lifts. The German National Ski Performance Centre is located on the Arber and the Arber is the venue for FIS Womens Women Cup Slalom and Grand Slalom competitions again this season.
Spicak and Pancir, are just across the border, and have good ski facilities, catering for all abilities and a wide range of activities.

Ski Season - starts in late November/early December and continues until early/mid April

The skiing areas on the Arber can be reached by car in 10 minutes (pay & display parking) or ski bus. The nearest ski bus stops are at Bayerhausl less than 5 minutes walk from Gästehaus Am Berg.
The ski areas at Spicak and Pancir can be reached by car or train in about 10 minutes. The village station is about 10 minutes walk from the guesthouse. Spicak station gives access to both Spicak and Pancir ski areas, (trains run hourly).

Cross country skiing and winter walks start close to the guesthouse.

Am Arber und im Dorf findet man viele Apres Ski.

Downhill skiing
There are 8 kilometers of well-tended slopes, open 8.30am to 4.30pm. 3 blue (easy), 4 red (medium) and 2 black (difficult) runs on the Arber.  Plus there is a 5km descent to Bodenmais. 2 slopes (one blue, one red) offer floodlit skiing on Wednesday and Friday evenings (6.30 - 9.30pm).
There is also a skilift in the village at Bayerisch Häusl, which is ideal for children and beginners and offers night skiing on occasion.
The skiing areas at Spicak offer around 25 kilometers of downhill runs, 25 ski tows and a single seater chairlift at Pancir as well as a new 4 seater chairlift at Spicak.

Snowboarden
Am Arber, steht ein Playboardrailpark für Snowboarder zu verfügung. Der Playboardrailpark ist der größte Deutschlands. Klicken hier für Weiteres. 

Cross country skiing
There are numerous centres and trails in the area, The closest to the Guesthouse is 10 minutes walk away at Bayerhäusl and offers 45 km of routes of varying difficulty and some floodlit routes. There are other centres at: Zweiselerwaldhaus (33.5km of trails), Bayerwald (150km of trails) and Bretterschatten (43km of trails). The tourist office has free maps of the cross country ski trails. You can ski across the border in the Czech Republic.

Tobogganing
There are 3 tobaggan runs close by. The Arber has a 800m run accessed by the Sonnenhang lift, at Brennes there is a 1000m run (Ski school Arber) and a 300m natural run in the forest on the far side of the village. Follow the signs for Schewlhausl opposite the petrol station, go under the railwayline and the run is about 150m further on the left. We have a tobaggan and plastic sliders for guests to borrow.

Snow walking
There are plenty of paths through the forest and around the village.
Guided walks can be arranged through the Tourist office or either of the sport shops in the village. Snow walking shoes can be hired at the Ski shops in the village.

Eislaufen
in Regen gibt es eine Eisbahn. Die Eishockeymannschaft, Red Dragons Regen, spielen regelmäßig da. Es gibt auch zeiten für’s Publikum. Mehr Info am Gästehaus.

Downhill, Cross Country and Snowboarding Lessons
There are 3 ski schools as well as 2 shops offering equipment hire on the Arber. With all the schools, teaching is done in small groups of 6 to 8 people and lessons last about 3 hours, starting at 9.30am each day. Beginners learn in a special area separate from the main ski runs. More experienced skiers, use the ski lifts to come down either red, blue or black runs, according to ability. Generally, after 3 days of lessons, most beginners are able to use the lift to come down the easiest runs on their own. You can start a course on any day of the week, including Sundays & holidays, even Christmas and New Year’s Days. Many of the instructors speak English. Lessons cost about 60 €uro for three days

Equipment Hire & Clothing
Equipment can be hired from either of the Sports shops in the village or from the ski schools on the Arber. It is advisiable to pre-book. Please note ski clothing cannot be hired. However, you can buy clothing (Jacket, waterproof overtrousers, gloves and hat are the basics), at very reasonable prices from both shops.  Equipment hire prices vary depending on the activity, but range from 24 to 37 Euros for 3 days hire.

It’s advisable, during peak times, to book lessons and equipment hire in advance, particularly if you want to have an English speaking instructor. Let us know if you want us to book these for you.

Ski passes
Click here for full details of the Arber’s Ski lift pass prices. Prices start from 11€uro for an hour or 126 €uro for 7 days for adults. There are reductions for children, families, whole season and night skiing. Beginners are advised to check with their instructor at the start of the course, which pass they need. Surface lifts are open 8.30am to 4.30pm and Gondola and chairlifts from 8.30am to 4.15pm

Ski Safe :.Before skiing or snowboarding off-piste in Bayerisch Eisenstein, you must assess the local snow conditions. Always check the local Avalanche Risk Level and ski with appropriate safety equipment.
